SEL-651R Advanced Recloser Control

Apply the easy-to-use SEL-651R Advanced Recloser Control for Automatic Network Reconfiguration, three-phase and single-phase tripping, and all your distribution automation needs. The SEL-651R is compatible with most manufacturers’ reclosers and includes directional power and directional overcurrent elements for advanced applications. Six voltage inputs provide source- and load-side voltage sensing, ensuring safe and secure alternate source logic.

The SEL-651R can also be integrated into Ethernet or serial-based communications networks with standard DNP3 and Modbus® protocols or optional IEC 61850. Speed event analysis, identify phasing, and optimize volt/VAR control with included synchrophasors. Improve feeder loading by using high-accuracy metering functions and harmonic control. Easily power accessories with a 40 W, 12 Vdc auxiliary power supply for applications requiring additional power, such as radios. The SEL-651R is certified to IEEE C37.60 standards and is a plug-compatible replacement for 14-pin reclosers.

SEL Arc Sense™ technology detects more high-impedance faults than conventional protection for more reliable operation of distribution systems.

Ethernet Communications

Provide DNP, Modbus®, IEC 61850, FTP, and SNTP capabilities using single copper or optional dual copper or fiber-optic Ethernet ports. Built-in web server makes firmware upgrades over Ethernet quick and secure.

Communications Flexibility

Order the SEL-651R-2 with as many as four serial ports (three EIA-232 and one EIA-485), two Ethernet ports (copper or fiber-optic), and a USB port. The front-panel USB port retrieves events, settings, and templates faster.

Digitally Signed Firmware Upgrade

Upload digitally signed firmware over Ethernet or serial connection. Secure algorithms guarantee the validity of the firmware file.

Increased Event Data and Faster Sampling Rate

See more prefault and postfault data with 60-cycle-length event reports. Gain better resolution with 128 samples per cycle analog data.

COMTRADE Event Reports

Capture standard and high-impedance event reports in COMTRADE standard file format.
