CATU

Created in 1919, the CATU company developed its activities, from its creation, on the manufacturing of material and equipment for the transmission and distribution networks of electrical energy. But it is really since 1936 that CATU activities were clearly concentrated on the conception and the manufacturing of protection equipment against the electric risks. A little time after the end of World War II, a central department for the Safety and the Accident prevention was created within EDF.

Automation and Integration

Reduce Arc-Flash Hazards

SEL arc-flash detection technology significantly decreases the time it takes a relay to trip in response to an arc fault, which reduces hazardous arc‑flash incident energy. SEL combines light-sensing technology with fast overcurrent protection to provide high-speed arc-flash detection (AFD).

Arc Sense Technology

Arc Sense technology (AST) from SEL is an innovative solution that detects high-impedance faults (HIF) on a distribution system. A high-impedance fault occurs when a conductor contacts a ground surface but does not produce a large fault current. SEL’s patented AST detects and clears faults that might not be detected by conventional overcurrent elements. AST algorithms provide improved fault detection over traditional methods as well as enhanced security when compared to existing technologies.

Automation Controller

SEL Programmable Automation Controllers (PACs) are built for utility and industrial applications. They provide rugged and reliable I/O solutions at an economical price. SEL PACs are hardened to meet stringent IEEE and IEC tests for harsh environments, and all are backed by SEL’s no-questions-asked, worldwide, ten-year product warranty.

SEL-2240 Axion

The SEL Axion® is a fully integrated, modular input/output (I/O) and control solution ideally suited for utility and industrial applications. It combines the communications, built-in security, and IEC 61131 logic engine of the SEL Real-Time Automation Controller (RTAC) family with a durable suite of I/O modules that provide high-speed, deterministic control performance over an EtherCAT® network.
